It’s official. Politico says goodbye to Michael Kinsley, who’s going to work for Bloomberg View. The search is underway to find his replacement.
See the internal memo…
It should come as no surprise that someone with Mike Kinsley’s track record for journalistic innovation and just sheer talent and smarts is always going to be in demand – but that doesn’t make our hearts any less heavy in letting you know that Mike will be leaving us to join Bloomberg in the next few weeks.
Mike has a long history of playing a key role in some pretty impressive start-ups and his time at POLITICO continued that tradition. Along with Joe Scarborough, Mike has helped us launch a new franchise of opinion columnists that brought new readers to our publication and set a standard for graceful, intellectually incisive writing that we all can aspire to.
We wish Mike the best with his latest journalistic challenge and offer our thanks for his work here, as well as his counsel and advice. John, Jim and I will be plunging into the challenge of replacing Mike in the weeks to come.
