TBD is searching for a new Editor-in-Chief ever since Erik Wemple recently decided to jump ship for WaPo. The plan? Will the waters be choppy? Those answers are TBD but we hope they don’t involve a giant iceberg. We handily found this ad on the mediabistro website. Strangely the goals of the position sound sorely similar to those that Wemple and the original TBDers were trying to accomplish at the beginning of their voyage last summer. Happy sailing.

Description: Allbritton Communications Co. is looking for an editor to pilot its local news website TBD.com who will be responsible for recruiting and directly managing a team of ten to twelve editorial employees. With dual emphases on hard news and the region’s arts & entertainment scene, TBD.com is a growing organization that emphasizes distinctive writing and an up-temo approach to goings-on in and around Washington. The editor we’re looking for should have an acute sense for where the soft spots in the regional news coverage lie and how to exploit them, not to mention an ability to spot and nurture talented writers and reporters who can generate audience on the Internet. The goal is to get fresh and compelling content onto the site on a rolling basis every day.
Successful candidate must have a strong journalistic background with at least five years in print or online news operations, and at least two years in an editorial leadership role at an Internet publication. Superb line-editing and copy-editing skills are critical.
Send resumes with a cover letter to: ABC7/TBD Attn: Human Resources 1100 Wilson Blvd. 6th Floor, Arlington, VA 22209 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
