Stallone Pens Deal with Montegrappa

Even though the script for The Expendables was a far cry from the prose quality of For Whom the Bells Toll, author Sylvester Stallone can now lay claim to a piece of the pen company made famous by journalist and author Ernest Hemingway.

Since 1912, Montegrappa in Bassano del Grappa, Italy has been making ornate pens for those who “can’t live without the emotions inspired by the feel of a crafted writing instrument between their fingers, responding to their delicate movements.” As part of the deal, Stallone will also act as brand ambassador and provide creative input on the design of 2011 models.

According to the press release, company CEO Giuseppe Aquila (pictured, right) became a real fan in the mid-1990′s:

Stallone was first introduced to Montegrappa when he chose to ink a major contract with an ultra-rare version of the Montegrappa Gold Dragon Fountain Pen. Mr. Stallone felt it appropriate that he sign such an important document with the solid gold version “artist’s proof” of the pen which he eventually used to place his signature on the unique, monumental contract.

Other current company brand ambassadors include author Paulo Coehlo and Formula One driver Jean Alesi. Let’s hope some of that magic ink rubs off on 2012′s The Expendables II.
