Sean Hannity Says He Can’t Wait to Ditch Cuomo’s Empire State

WCNYLogoNew York Governor Andrew Cuomo offended a wide swath of Catholics and conservatives Friday with comments made during a WCNY 93.9 FM with Susan Arbetter. Here’s what is being objected to:

“Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and if they are the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”

This morning via Catholic Online, Deacon Keith Fournier is calling on Cuomo to apologize to all “pro-life and pro-marriage New Yorkers.” Meanwhile, Sean Hannity hinted this may be for him personally a final New York state straw. Here’s what Hannity said on his radio show Monday night, per The Global Dispatch:

“Now I want to tell you something – I was born and raised in New York. I want you to know that and I can’t wait to get out of here. I really can’t. I don’t want to pay their 10-percent state tax anymore.”

“I live in the second-highest property taxed county in the entire country in Nassau County. I can’t wait to sell my house to somebody who wants it. I can’t wait to pay no state income tax down in Florida or Texas. I haven’t decided yet, but I’m leaning Florida because I like the water and I like to fish.”

Cuomo’s comments framed a long segment of the WCNY conversation during which he tried to draw a clear distinction between “moderate” Republicans who have supported him over the years and more “extremely conservative”: Republicans. The 20-minute  interview can be accessed to here.

Update (2:15 p.m.):
Over the weekend, Cuomo’s office took the Post to task for their reporting of this overall story and sought to clarify the governor’s WCNY interview comments.
