As Expected, Scott Pelley Named CBS Evening News Anchor; WCBS-AM to Keep Simulcast Going

In an announcement as anticipated as much as Katie Couric stepping down last month, Scott Pelley has been named to succeed Couric as anchor of the CBS Evening News.

Unlike Couric, the longtime NBC News anchor and correspondent, Pelley is homegrown, having been with CBS News since 1989.

There has been some speculation, or at least wonder, whether radio stations would continue the simulcast of Evening News starting with Pelley’s debut June 6.

However, Tim Scheld, WCBS-AM news director, tells FishbowlNY that there will be no change to their programming schedule.

Pelley, the former network Chief White House Correspondent, joined 60 Minutes in 2003.
