Christmas Music Means Another Ratings Win for WLTW
WLTW/Lite FM wasn’t playing the role of Scrooge for the holiday season. Arbitron released the Holiday numbers yesterday for the period from December 8 to January 4, and the Clear Channel powerhouse enjoyed a ratings bonanza. The Soft Adult Contemporary station, which kept its popular holiday tradition playing Christmas music, had an 11.o rating. WLTW had a 8.2 for December.
WCBS-FM made a .3 upgrade to 6.2, but of course was swallowed by the WLTW dominance.
WHTZ/Z100 lost .5 to a 4.6, while sister Clear Channel station WKTU dropped .4 to 4.4.
Tropical WSKQ saw no gains at 3.9.
Rocker WAXQ/Q 104.3 retreated .3 to 3.8.
CBS’ WWFS/Fresh 102.7 backed up .4 to 3.5.
WQHT/Hot 97 was one of the few stations with positive numbers–improving .4 to 3.4.
In the battle of the city’s News stations: WINS led the way, despite slipping .2 to 3.2. WCBS Newsradio 88 maintained a 2.8.
However, Merlin Media upstart WEMP lost another .1 to a microscopic .5. Incidentally, the FM station’s CUME dropped from 621,300 to 539,500.
More from the ratings after the jump
In Sports, WFAN had a 3.1 for the period, down from 3.3 in December. Rival WEPN/1050 ESPN slipped a .1 to 1.2.
Bloomberg Radio/WBBR did half as well as WEPN, losing another .1 to . 6.
