More on ElleGirl‘s demise, from knowledgable sources close to the magazine:
The official line is staffers are laid off, but the company is trying to place as many as possible.
Most if not all were to meet with Hachette HR individually today.
The magazine had recently hired a new photo editor and were well into working on the August issue.
Most felt it was a quick decision driven by the company’s obsession with new media.
As for the international editions, staffers were not sure whether or not they would not fold, though many of those editions use the flagship content.
Editor Christina Kelly was as shocked as everyone else.
