Floating in ElleGirl‘s Wake

  • The official line is staffers are laid off, but the company is trying to place as many as possible.
  • Most if not all were to meet with Hachette HR individually today.
  • The magazine had recently hired a new photo editor and were well into working on the August issue.
  • Most felt it was a quick decision driven by the company’s obsession with new media.
  • As for the international editions, staffers were not sure whether or not they would not fold, though many of those editions use the flagship content.
  • Editor Christina Kelly was as shocked as everyone else.
