The February sweeps period ended yesterday with WNYW/Channel 5 victorious in a couple of dayparts.
In Nielsen figures obtained by WNYW, Channel 5 was number one at 10 p.m. among the all-important Adults 25 to 54 demographic. Delving further, the broadcast delivered 152,400 Adults 25 to 54. The Channel 5 late news has a whopping 119 percent advantage over WPIX among the same demo–69,600.
The WNYW 10 p.m. newscast, though, lost 5 percent of the audience from February 2011.
Perhaps impressive is Channel 5′s showing in the morning. Good Day Wake Up, with competition from every New York station was tops from 5 to 6 a.m. in the Adults 25 to 54 category.
WNYW also did well with Good Day Early Call, opposite the other channels at 4:30 a.m. Channel 5 had a number-two showing in the Adults 25 to 54. Only WABC/Channel 7 had more viewers in that pivotal demo.
WNYW had gains at other times of the day, including the 5 p.m. broadcast, up 21 percent from February 2011 among Adults 25 to 54.
