Gotham has named David Katz its new publisher. Katz comes to the magazine from Field & Stream, where he served as digital sales manager for six months. Prior to that Katz was the associate publisher of Brides from 2004 to 2011.

Debra Halpert had been handling publishing duties for both Niche Media titles Gotham and Hamptons, but Niche’s COO, Katherine Nicholls, said Hamptons’ growth neccesitated adding Katz.

“Niche Media continues to make investments in our brands and in our company. Following 2011′s significant reinvestment into our editorial product, we now shift focus to accelerating magazine growth,” said Nicholls, “With his experience and success building regional publications and expanding multi-media advertising channels, David is uniquely qualified to take the helm at Gotham magazine and we look forward to deepening our connectivity with our readers and clients and expanding Gotham’s footprint in the New York region.”

Halpert will continue to serve as publisher of Hamptons.
