Lunch at Michael's: Where Were the Fashionistas? The fashionistas (well most of them) were too busy to pick at their Cobbs today, it being Fashion Week and all. But Michael's was still packed to the gills with other media types, from Barry Diller to Cathie Black. We were at the bar again (Feel free to invite us to dine with you next week! We need a table.) so were not able to observe the attire, behavior and conversations of the folks in the room. Next time! Table 1: Seating one: Freddie Gershon, CEO of Music Theatre International (MTI) with some Disney Pixar people. Seating two: Stan Shuman of Allen & Co. (he's Rupert Murdoch's investment banker) with two other fellows, one whose head was very closely shaved. 2: Playboy's Chris Napolitano swept in wearing a gorgeous checked green wool Belvest jacket. He was with his literary editor Amy Lloyd and Drew Reed of 20th Century Fox. Chris and Drew had matching Cobb salads. Amy had a large bowl of something we couldn't identify -- the shrimp? 3: Andrew Cuomo with Steve and Howard Rubenstein. Hatching PR strategies no doubt. 4: The uber-stern-looking Barry Diller in a yellow tie with a long-haired, youngish handsome guy. They were there in the corner for a very long time. 5: Gil Schwartz and another guy. 6: John Ashcroft (yes, that John Ashcroft) with former Massachusetts governor Bill Weld. 7: Andre Leon Talley in rare form, kicking up his heels (figuratively speaking) and commenting on outfits for the long line of guests waiting for tables near the door. "THIS is what you should be wearing," he said, grabbing one man and showing his outfit to Michael. He was dining with Candy Pratts Price, of Style.com, who just clucked away, trying to hush him "Andre, really. Must you?" He must. After all, he was fabulous in his floor length shearling coat. She was in leopard. 8: New York Social Diary's David Patrick Columbia, with Brooke Duchin and Alex Hitz. 9: Author and sage Pamela Keogh, in a "pre-Tom Ford Gucci suit," was with Joseph Montebello, art director extraordinaire and former HarperCollins honcho. They were kibbitzing a bit with HarperCollins' Marjorie Braman and Sloan Harris of ICM, at Table 28. 11: Natalie Guedj, president of Van Cleef + Arpels, with Judy Price of the National Jewelry Institute. 12: Seating one: Steve Mosko, Sony Pictures Television President, with Michael Barker and others. Seating two: Hamilton South and others. 14: Alice Mayhew and whom? 15: Tony Hoyt, with former CBS News exec Mary Murphy and brother Patrick Murphy, former city council candidate for the Lower East Side 16: Court TV in da house! Ed Hersh, EVP of Programming was with Henry Schleiff, Chairman and CEO, Art Bell, Pres and COO. Joining them was Jeff Fager, EP of 60 Minutes. 17: NATAS chieftain Peter O. Price with whom? 18: Hearst's Pres Cathie Black, who just won the Henry Johnson Fisher "Lifetime Achievement" Award, was there with someone. 19: Sherrie Rollins Westin, Ed Rollins' ex. 20: Seventeen's EIC and multimedia honcho Atoosa Rubenstein, having an intense conversation with Hearst's Deb Shriver. 21: Chris Meigher with Tom something or other. 22: Martha Stewart wannabe Sandra Lee with folks from the Susan Magrino Agency (which reps Martha). Hmmmm. Wonder what that's all about. 23: The devastatingly handsome Robert Barnett with Meredith Barnett, who's at Harvard Business School, David Weiss, at Columbia Law, and Dana Farouki, with MOMA. 24: Leslie Stevens of Laforce Stevens PR. 25: ? don't know. 26: Victor Neufeld, producer for Paula Zahn. 27: Joan Gelman, with her sons Josh and Greg. 28: Marjorie Braman, who edited Audrey Style and Jackie Style (two of Pamela Keogh's books), with ICM's very debonair and blue-eyed tall man Sloan Harris. He was holding Louis Bayard's The Pale Blue Eye, speaking of blue eyes. 29: Patricia Sellers, of Fortune. Back room: Very attractive (and single, gals!) David Moyer, executive recruiter serving PR co's, with pal Roger Cohen, a fellow PR guy at White & Case LLP. Jonathan Capehart, with Diane Cardwell of the New York Times. Bob Horton Men's Fitness's e-i-c Neal Boulton If you were at Michael's today (or any day) and would like to report in, or correct the record, please email LaurelT AT mediabistro.com Email This Post |
