EARLIER: Dwell Editor Resigns After 'Fundamental Change In Magazine's Mission'

The full press release:

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Michela O'Connor Abrams, President and Publisher of Dwell, announced a staff reorganization at the San Francisco media company, effective today. Managing Editor Ann Wilson Spradlin, will report directly to Ms. O'Connor Abrams and will have responsibility for oversight and management of the Dwell edit and art team. Andrew Wagner and Sam Grawe, formerly Senior Editors at Dwell, have each been promoted to Executive Editor. Editor in Chief Allison Arieff has resigned, effective immediately.

"As the mission of the Dwell brand continues to be realized, we are putting in place the organization that supports our business model," says O'Connor Abrams. "A number of platforms beyond the magazine have been part of the organizational plan for several years. We are maximizing our resources to support Dwell magazine, dwell.com, the Dwell on Design conference series, Dwell Homes by Empyrean and more."

In September of 2005, the company launched The Dwell Homes by Empyrean, a modern prefab housing initiative involving Dwell, three award-winning architects and Empyrean LLC, a leading manufacturer of prefabricated homes. Dwell on Design, the second conference in a highly successful series, is taking place in San Francisco the weekend of September 15th. The company's newly revamped web site, Dwell.com, re-launched in June of this year, and Dwell will celebrate its sixth anniversary in October with the largest issue in the magazine's history at 292 pages -- a 9% increase in book size and a 15% increase in revenue.

Circulation and newsstand as of the December 2005 ABC Publisher's Statement continues its growth trend. Total paid circulation is up 25.5% over the prior year; newsstand is up 28.7% in the same period.
