Megan Liberman Named Editor-in-Chief of Yahoo! News

Yahoo! News has named Megan Liberman its editor-in-chief. Liberman was most recently deputy news editor of The New York Times. Liberman will be tasked with expanding Yahoo! News’ team and creating new features for the site.

Liberman was previously The New York Times Magazine’s deputy editor and first online editor. She also created the popular parenting blog, Motherlode.

“Megan is a dynamic addition to the Yahoo News team,” said Robertson Barrett, VP of Yahoo! News and Finance, in a statement. “As deputy news editor at The New York Times she drove some of the most successful digital initiatives, from its blog network to Nate Silver’s multi-platform presence to live streamed coverage of the 2012 elections. With that type of experience, she is a natural fit to lead editorial for the world’s largest news site, and she will help us take Yahoo News to the next level.”

Liberman’s appointment is effective immediately.
