Oxfeld Out In Gawker Shakeup

We were awoken from a Baden Powell-and-Hefeweizen-fueled holiday weekend haze by this bit of news: editor Jesse Oxfeld is out at Gawker. According to a source with knowledge of the site's inner-workings, Oxfeld was told Friday his contract would not be renewed. The move, first reported by Jossip, is just one in a number of sweeping changes at the buzzy blog network run by Nick Denton.

We're told Denton will publish an extended post on his personal site on Monday explaining the rationale behind the moves.
