Coffee and Talk Politico Style

1208885597_4795.jpgHere's some further evidence that Politico is taking over the world. Despite the media apocalypse currently under way the D.C.-based paper has found yet another way to expand their print circulation: Starbucks!

Politico has announced that it will be partnering with Starbucks in order to offer copies of the paper in 70 stores in the DC area. And not only that Starbucks and Politico will "host the coffeehouse conversations approximately every 25 days following the inauguration to offer local residents an insider's look at politics and encourage them to get more involved." Full release after the jump.

STARBUCKS CELEBRATES COFFEEHOUSE CULTURE WITH POLITICO

POLITICO to be Distributed in More than 70 D.C. Metro-Area Starbucks; Customers Invited to Continue the Conversation through Events in Local Stores

WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 14, 2009 -- Starbucks Coffee Company, the premier roaster and retailer of specialty coffee in the world, has joined with POLITICO, a Washington D.C.-based political website and newspaper, to offer copies of the newspaper in approximately 70 stores in the D.C. metro area. The two companies will also host coffeehouse conversations at select Starbucks locations during the first 100 days following the inauguration.

"POLITICO is an important source of political information for people throughout Washington, D.C.," said Austin Myerson, Starbucks Regional Marketing Manager for the Northeast Atlantic Division. "We feel that this relationship will enhance Starbucks customers' in-store experiences and in the time-honored tradition of the coffeehouse, spark the important dialogue that Washingtonians want to have."

Starbucks and POLITICO will host the coffeehouse conversations approximately every 25 days following the inauguration to offer local residents an insider's look at politics and encourage them to get more involved.

"Starbucks has always been a place where the community gathers for conversation, and with the association of our two companies and the events we have planned, we hope to serve as a conduit to the community and individuals to discuss politics." said Roy Schwartz, POLITICO's vice president of business development.

The events will bring top political figures, prominent journalists, and senior POLITICO editors together with the general public, in the coffeehouse setting, for discussions about the new administration. Mike Allen, the chief political correspondent for POLITICO will serve as the moderator for the events. Each discussion will be filmed and available online at www.politico.com.

More information on event locations, dates, and times will be available on POLITICO.com in the coming days. The coffeehouse conversations will be open to the public. Space may be limited.
