Gannett Newspaper Division President To Retire![]() One day after newspaper shares were battered by the Goldman Sachs analysis that the U.S. economy is headed into a soft recession and that the newspaper industry will be disproportionately affected on the ad side, Sue Clarke-Johnson, the president of Gannett's newspaper division, announced that she will retire in May. From Reuters: ''Sue Clark-Johnson, 60, is leaving after 40 years as a reporter, editor, publisher and senior executive, Gannett said in a statement. Clark-Johnson has been president of the newspaper division since October 2005. previous to working at Gannett, Clark-Johnson was Chairman and CEO, Phoenix Newspapers, Inc., and Publisher and CEO of The Arizona Republic.
