Looks like we spoke a bit too soon when we noted that plummeting graphs had not made an appearance on the Times homepage of late. They're back. In case you somehow missed it the world is in the midst of global market panic. NPR said this morning something to the effect that this is because people don't want to be holding stock over the weekend. Apparently in this new topsy turvy world of financial calamity not even the weekends are a safe haven. That said, it's since been suggested to us that, actually, no one knows what is going on and people are just grasping for plausible sounding explanations. So there! We, for one, continue to be grateful that it's Friday.
