NY Times Posts Circulation Gains

NYtimes buildingThe New York Times posted a solid increase in circulation for the six month period ending March 2014.

According to the Alliance for Audited Media’s latest report, the paper’s total average circulation (print and digital) was at 2,149,012 for weekday editions, and 2,517,307 for the Sunday edition. That marks a 15 and eight percent gain, respectively.

Why such a nice boost compared to last year? Well, part of it is that the Times included International New York Times data in its circulation numbers. As Poynter noted, this is the first time that has happened. The increase is also due to the Times’ continued success in the digital realm — the paper now has about 800,000 digital only subscribers.
