Ryan Ruocco Expands YES Network Duties, Named Host of This Week in Football

Ryan Ruocco has not quit his day job as midday co-host on ESPN 98.7 with Stephen A. Smith. Instead, Ruocco, is adding more visibility at night on the YES Network.

Ruocco has been named host of the cable network’s This Week in Football, the in-season studio show that focuses on the Giants and Jets matchups. Ruocco works alongside veteran analysts Howard Cross, Ross Tucker and Gary Myers.  Ruocco will remain part of the inaugural Brooklyn Nets broadcast team.

“Ryan has displayed a maturity, confidence and a grasp for his assignments that belies his age,” said John J. Filippelli, president of production and programming, YES Network.  “His play-by-play work for us has been very impressive, and we look forward to his enriching This Week in Football, already among the best NFL studio programs on television, with his contributions.”

Ruocco’s start at YES dates back to 2007 as a statistician for the network’s New York Yankees telecasts.  His responsibilities soon grew to include play-by-play work on Nets and Fordham Rams basketball telecasts. Prior to joining the YES Network, Ruocco handled basketball and football play-by-play at WFUV, Fordham’s radio station, while an undergraduate there.  In addition, he hosted WFUV’s One on One, New York’s longest-running sports call-in show.
