Adaora Udoji, co-host of WNYC and PRI's national morning news program The Takeaway, announced today that she will be leaving the program.

"I am extraordinarily proud of what The Takeaway has accomplished and am honored to have worked with such a talented group of people," said Udoji. "I have made the right decision for my family at this time. However, journalism will always be my passion and I look forward to returning to my career at some point in the future."

Udoji and her husband Ron Allen, a correspondent at NBC News, recently adopted a baby girl. She is taking leave to spend more time with her family. Today will be her last day working at The Takeaway.

WNYC President and CEO Laura Walker says "In addition to co-hosting the show, Adaora contributed to designing and producing The Takeaway, helping to launch a new national morning drive public radio program for both on-air and online, the first in more than two decades."

PRI President and CEO Alisa Miller added, "Adaora has been an integral part of offering listeners something new each day and we thank her for all her contributions to the program's development."

Udoji joined The Takeaway from Court TV, where she served as an anchor and trial correspondent. Previously, as a correspondent with ABC News and CNN, she covered some of the most critical domestic and international stories of the past dozen years such as Hurricane Katrina and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
