Abrams Acquires Derek Jeter Book From The New York Times
Abrams has acquired the title, Derek Jeter: From the Pages of The New York Times, highlighting the career of the New York Yankees’ captain and shortstop, Derek Jeter. The title is due for release in March 2011.
Abrams’ editor-in-chief Eric Himmel negotiated the deal with the New York Times’ editorial director, Alex Ward. The book will carry a $29.95 price tag and contain 100 color photographs.
The press release had more: “Derek Jeter draws upon more than 5,000 news articles and features from The New York Times by the paper’s superb sports reporters, columnists, and photographers, past and present, including Dave Anderson, Fred R. Conrad, Jack Curry, Chang Lee, Buster Olney, Barton Silverman, and George Vecsey, as well as Tyler Kepner, who has written the introduction. The book is filled with entertaining stories, penetrating insights, and the voices of not only Jeter himself, but also George Steinbrenner, Joe Torre, Alex Rodriguez, and a host of players.”
