Though the immediate reaction of one anonymous tipster upon the news was to moan something to the effect of "kill me now," I suppose there must be some people dying to read a roman a clef penned by one of baseball's more notorious wives - the kind of girl who'd fit right in having a catfight with Tanya Turner on FOOTBALLER$ WIVES if, well, the show was about baseball.

But yes, it seems that Anna Benson - best known for being the oh-so-outspoken ex-stripper wife (or soon-to-be-ex-wife, depending on which reports you trust) of former NY Mets pitcher Kris Benson - is about to start shopping a novel loosely based on her own experiences. No doubt it will promise to dish the dirt on what really happens inside baseball. So far, no comment yet from Lori Perkins, who is representing the project(and has a habit of taking on sexed-up celebrities, such as Jenna Jameson, as clients) and no word if there are going to be any takers once the project is shopped around.

But if it is, may I suggest STEROID SEX as a title? It's so alliterative, so trashy...so 21st Century baseball.

UPDATE: Another little birdie passes along Perkins' pitch email about several other sex-related projects (including former porn star and Broadway actress Georgina Spelvin's autobiography THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT) which reveals she "is also working with baseball's most famous wife, Anna Benson, on her roman a clef, BASEBALL WIVES." Hmm, maybe that fictional catfight isn't so far off after all!
