Television Writing 101
Last week, one GalleyCat editor interviewed television producer Chad Gervich about his new television writing handbook, Small Screen, Big Picture: A Writer's Guide To The TV Business. That long interview is up on mediabistro.com's main page, giving writers more ideas about writing for television. Here's a sample, Gervich talking frankly about his writing degree: "The other day, my boss told me that my background in playwriting gave me stronger storytelling skills. Telling a story is a craft. You work hard to get better at it. My skills of being a playwright have been helpful, but I don't think the degree itself was helpful. At the end of the day it's all about storytelling and writing."
