Congratulations to Kate Christensen (near right), who won the PEN/Faulkner Award for the novel The Great Man, a novel that GalleyCat was so enthused about last year we threw her a party.
And, too, to Sonya Hartnett, the Australian novelist who won the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, the highest-paying honor in the field of children's literature. Hartnett is the eighth recipient of this lifetime achievement award since it was established by the Swedish government in 2003 in memory of the author of Pippi Longstocking, and will travel to Stockholm to receive her medal in May. But if Candlewick Press wants to bring her to New York, I'm up for another party...
(And apologies to Josh Ferris, for screwing up the original headline and making it seem like Christensen had won his PEN/Hemingway, for Then We Came to the End.)
