Barnes & Noble Retail Revenues Down 10.9% for Holiday Period

Barnes & Noble bookstores and BN.com businesses reported revenues of $1.2 billion for the nine week holiday period, a 10.9 percent decrease compared to the same period last year for the retail side of the business.

At the same time, the company saw a decline in Nook sales. While the Nook segment reported $311 million in revenues during the holiday period, these sales marked a 12.6 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.

Here’s more from the bookseller: “While Retail sales of NOOK products fell short of the company’s expectations, bookstore sales of core products exceeded the company’s expectations, and therefore, the company continues to expect fiscal year 2013 Retail comparable bookstore sales to decline on a percentage basis in the low- to mid-single digits.”
