Viking Buys Author Danielle Trussoni's First Novel
According to the NY Observer, the book could go to two different editors--either fiction editorial director Molly Stern or Viking's hit-making editor, Pam Dorman. The deal was negotiated by agent Eric Simonoff. Trussoni's career began after the Iowa Writers Workshop, when she published the memoir, Falling Through the Earth. In 2007, she discussed her struggle to write her first novel--an unpublished manuscript about a girl who loses her father in Vietnam. Here's more from the article: "According to Mr. Simonoff, Penguin made an offer on behalf of the whole house early Tuesday. At that point, the bid represented interest from three Penguin editors--Ms. Stern, Ms. Dorman and Amy Einhorn, who runs her own imprint at Putnam. That bid didn't do it for Mr. Simonoff, though, and some hours later Penguin came back with a better one, this time without Ms. Einhorn in the mix." Email This Post |
