lessingNobel-prize winning author Doris Lessing has died. She was 94. According to reports, she died peacefully at her home in London.

Lessing had a prolific career. She wrote more than 50 novels including: The Golden Notebook, The Sirian Experiments, A Proper Marriage and The Good Terrorist. In her career, she received dozens of awards throughout her career, most notably winning the Nobel prize for literature, the David Cohen British Literature Prize, Spain’s Prince of Asturias Prize, the International Catalonia Prize, as well as being shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1985 and winning the first Man Booker International Prize in 2005.

Here is more about the author from The Guardian:

The American author Joyce Carol Oates said: “It might be said of Doris Lessing, as Walt Whitman boasted of himself: I am vast, I contain multitudes. For many, Lessing was a revolutionary feminist voice in 20th-century literature – though she resisted such categorisation, quite vehemently. For many others, Lessing was a ‘space fiction’ prophet, using the devices and idioms of the fantastic to address human issues of evolution and the environment.
