Houghton Mifflin Harcourt has acquired Webster’s New World Dictionary and CliffsNotes from John Wiley & Sons, also buying a collection of cookbook titles from the publisher. Here’s more about the long list culinary purchases, from the release:
Wiley’s celebrated cookbook collection includes the flagship Betty Crocker series, in addition to other General Mills-branded lines, the Better Homes and Gardens line licensed from Meredith Corporation, Mark Bittman’s How to Cook Everything franchise – including the bestselling culinary app for iOS, and high-profile authors such as Rose Levy Beranbaum, Marcus Samuelsson and Ellie Krieger. This acquisition will complement HMH’s premier authors and cookbooks, including Jacques Pepin, Dorie Greenspan, The Gourmet Cookbook and the Hello, Cupcake! franchise.
Along with the CliffsNotes titles, Houghton will assume control of the study guide website associated with the series–it currently counts two million visitors a month.
