Newsweek Drops Print Edition

Newsweek will end its print edition on December 31st, after 80 years in the magazine business. The magazine will continue in a digital format, maintaining its partnership with The Daily Beast.

Last month, the MediabistroTV crew explored the Frank Gehry-designed IAC building that houses the offices for Newsweek, The Daily Beast and other IAC brands (video embedded above). NewsBeast senior columnist and CNN contributor John Avlon guided readers through the building.

Here’s more from FishbowlNY: “As with any shuttering, Tina Brown wrote in a memo thatstaff cuts are coming … No matter what you think about Newsweek, today is a sad day. The magazine is part of America’s rich magazine history, and it’s a shame to see it disappear. There’s sure to be more news about this closure as the day goes on, so we’ll keep you posted. Also, here’s a behind-the-scenes look atNewsweek/The Daily Beast’s HQ, which we imagine will be changing a bit now.”
