Nook Tablet Is Now $179

In a competitive move against Amazon, Barnes & Noble has dropped the price on its Nook Tablet and Nook Color devices.

The bookseller is now selling an 8GB Nook Tablet for $179, $20 less than the device’s previous price of $199. The price drop undercuts Amazon’s Kindle Fire device, which sells for $199 for the 6GB edition. The news also comes as rumors circulate about Apple releasing a smaller cheaper “iPad Mini.”

AppNewser has more: “To help encourage back-to-school sales, Barnes & Noble has also been pushing its Nook Tablet devices by giving away kids eBooks with the purchase of the device as part of the Nook Kids Summer Reading Program. Currently, Barnes & Noble is giving away a collection of Disney eBooks to customers who purchase a Nook Tablet through September 2nd.”
