Staff Cut at Farrar, Straus & Giroux
As news of Macmillan layoffs surfaced today, the Farrar, Straus & Giroux house was hit hard--reportedly losing an associate publisher, head of production, and an editor this afternoon. The NY Observer reports that associate publisher Linda Rosenberg, head of production Tom Consiglio, and the editor Denise Oswald were among the lay-offs at the Macmillan imprint. The article also contains rumors of deeper cuts: "FSG editors have reportedly been asked to cut back on how much they're spending on acquisitions." Most recently, the celebrated house Farrar, Straus & Giroux has published Roberto Bolano's final novel 2666 and the collection Words in Air: The Complete Correspondence Between Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell.
