Reports of layoffs at DC Comics surfaced this afternoon, as the comic book industry faces the publishing recession.

Earlier today the breaking-news Twitter feed The Media Is Dying reported "Major layoffs at DC COMICS including Bob Schreck." Schreck is a veteran editor at the company, currently helming Batman & Robin the Boy Wonder and Matt Wagner's Batman & the Monster Men and other DC All Star titles.

Publishers Weekly confirmed the layoffs, adding more information about the cuts: "Other cuts at DC Comics were centered around the magazine business, including several at MAD Magazine. The layoffs were reported as DC's parent company Warner Brothers announced a 10% reduction in the company's employment worldwide."
