As the number of printed book review pages dwindle, its good to see the web taking up the slack. Enter LitMob.com, a niche site that will only review those books that they feel their readers will enjoy - books for the more "discerning reader" (think Pitchfork for books). Created by Doug Perkul, former Associate Publisher at SPIN Magazine; Stephen Blackwell, the current Editor-In-Chief of Death + Taxes Music Magazine,; Stefan Nadelman, Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winner, RES Fest Winner; and Scott Wamsley, Editor of "The Skinny"; they also focus on book jacket design (and those artists behind the design), and "Artist Picks" that showcase what their favorite artists are reading right now (next up is Kip Pardue from Remember the Titans and the elctro-pop group Cut Copy).

According to the press release:

The site will not focus on bestsellers such as those reviews found at The New York Times, but rather reviews of books that will be read and talked about by cutting-edge consumers. "As indie music zealots, we love sites like Pitchfork, Stereogum, and Brooklyn Vegan," says Lit Mob Publisher Doug Perkul. "What was amazing to me is that you have a few hundred sites that cater to tastemakers within the music scene, but no one is doing this for books and literature. Contrary to popular beliefs, people are still reading books and we intend to share our favorite titles with them and highlight amazing books in the marketplace."
