POSITION SUMMARY:
Assistant Project Manager
Reporting to the Project Management Director, the Assistant Project Manager, works within the Product Development department and is responsible for ensuring production deadlines are met for multiple products and formats. The incumbent will interact heavily with other ATK departments including Editorial, Creative, Marketing, Sales, and Web as well as external vendors.
This is a full-time site based position for an individual with 1 to 2 years exposure to publishing and/or web development. This is an opportunity to get experience working across product divisions for a multimedia company.
The ideal candidate has a passion for technology and is an innovative thinker, someone who enjoys problem solving, who is excited to try different project management technologies and methodologies, and who is anxious to brainstorm new ideas and try them out.
ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF POSITION:
• Develop and maintain master schedules for all Magazine, Book, Direct Mail, Marketing, Sales, IT, Web and Ad Hoc programs and projects at ATK through Microsoft Project scheduling software.
• Process new job tickets and maintain daily reports
• Manage print programs and vendor relationships for bind-ins, DVDs, DNPCs, PIPs and other sales/marketing promotional material as needed
• Handle printing of business print supplies such as business cards and stationery
• Contributes to and implements project management processes
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Exceptional organizational, written and verbal communication skills
• Highly motivated, hard working, and able to effectively multi-task.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects; work well under pressure and within budget.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing deadlines and obtaining necessary approvals.
• Strong attention to detail is essential.
• Flexibility during peak periods.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• BS/BA (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in publishing or web development.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Word, Filemaker, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Project
• Working knowledge of Adobe CS and Mac OSX operating system a plus.
