About Our Company
The Silicon Valley Business Journal has an opportunity for a hungry tech journalist to achieve instant prominence creating our morning email news product. The biggest names in technology, real estate and politics depend on our Morning Edition Monday-Friday. You can work from home.
Here's the job: Scan the headlines, curate, and write up aggregated stories that matter to Silicon Valley. Then -- and this is the rub -- in those stories tell our readers what the headlines mean in a way that makes them smarter. We prize fresh, snappy writing, savvy news judgment, unimpeachable fairness, respect of copyright, and extraordinary dot-connecting. Beyond aggregation, we seek stunning original work that will drive huge traffic.
The Morning Edition Editor loads his or her stories into our CMS and in consultation with an editor, lets the Morning Edition fly -- all before 7:30 a.m. West Coast. If you have the chops, you can work from either coast.
The right candidate for this part-time (3 hours/day, 5 days a week) position will overflow with story ideas to pass on to the staff each day. Perfect writing, a deep understanding of the territory and a zero-tolerance attitude toward errors are required.
Interested? Send a resume and two writing samples torn from today's tech headlines that match the criteria described above, as well as a couple ideas for original stories that will get people talking.
