Responsibilities:

- The Planner will work with internal and external resources to assist with the maintenance and reporting aspects of nytstore.com, including:
- Create financial plans on a seasonal basis. These plans will include sales, inventory, receipts, markdowns and gross margin.
- Create all merchandise plans for their area of responsibility for each delivery period with details down to week, level and rolled to a total year level. These plans include: Revenue, Gross Margin, Inventory Turns, Receipts, Markdowns and suggested sku count.
- Analyze sales and margin results, inventory flow, and work closely with the Executive Director and merchants in developing short and long-term merchandise strategies.
- Partner with buyer to ensure assortment, including width and depth of product, supports merchandise plans.
- Analyze weekly/monthly performance including revenue, margin, inventory turns against plan and forecast. Develop strategies to deal with any deviation from plan or any excess inventory position and present strategies to their merchant partners.
- Provide a detailed forecast against plan at the week level; updating the forecast based on Executive Director and merchant team's input.
- Manage ending inventory of seasonal product by suggesting markdowns and other strategies to meet inventory objectives.
- Provide weekly reporting at the class or sub-department level for merchants and senior management to review. Provide all other requested reporting when needed.
- Participate in weekly meetings to re-project inventory levels, analyze sales results and suggest changes.

Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Planning/Inventory Control, Allocation, Merchandising, Demand Forecasting, Financial Planning or Analysis
- Strong Excel skills in formulating data and understanding of advanced formulas(such as V lookups and Pivot tables)
- Ability to create reports ad hoc
- Must be able to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
- Demonstrates logical analysis and problem solving skills.
- Possess an ability to understand financial measurements and how to impact them
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-starter; takes initiative; problem solver
- Organized and detail oriented
- A sense of humor
- An understanding and passion for the journalism that underlies the products for sale in The New York Times Store
