Job Requirements

The Wall Street Journal seeks an enterprising reporter to cover U.S. news for the San Francisco bureau.  The reporter will write on politics and policy, primarily in California, but also in the capitals of eight other states in the region, including Alaska and Hawaii.  In addition, this reporter should be prepared to jump in on other general and breaking news, from forest fires to rampage shootings to regional economic trends. We¹re looking for a strong writer who can write quickly and efficiently on deadline but who also can capture broad themes and polish a long-form narrative. The ideal candidate will be numbers savvy, conversant with documents and data and will have a proven track record as a watchdog. Online experience and video skills are a plus, as is fluency in foreign languages. Based in San Francisco, but Sacramento is negotiable.
