Essential Duties:
• Perform photo research for 25-30 books per year, in subjects ranging from fashion to art to travel to luxury lifestyle, and various smaller projects as necessary.
• Clear rights and permissions for all images and talent, as necessary
• Negotiate rates and maintain photo budgets
• Gather credit and caption information
• Acquire and manage high res files
• Prepare and send hi-res files to color separators and work with design/production teams to ensure that the proofing process moves smoothly
• Identify and contract photographers for original work
• Maintain a database of photographers for potential hire
Required Skills:
• Excellent organizational skills
• Strong working knowledge of fine arts and artist, photographers, film, social culture and subjects pertaining to Assouline’s publishing list.
• Exceptional research skills – knowledge of varied image sources (stock agencies, museums, artists’ catalogues, archives, historical societies)
• Knowledge of pre-press print production (file management, proofing, color separating)
• Experience managing photo budgets and processing invoices and contracts
• Knowledge of copyright, licenses and permissions
• Able to multi-task and work well under pressure
The position is full time. Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits and paid time off are included.
