Job Requirements This person will be assisting the Vice President in the creation and management of communication vehicles for Macmillan Publishers employees, as well as the management of external relations with relevant outside partners/stakeholders for the division. S/he will also be responsible for sourcing vendors and production of internal events. Candidates must be able to prioritize, multitask, and excellent problem solvers. This is a highly-visible position within a newly formed department in the company, so the ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who is comfortable with finding opportunities and helping creating a dynamic new department that addresses the needs of a diverse group of audiences.

Major Responsibilities:
This person will assist the VP in:
• The creation of employee communications, including biweekly employee newsletter, blog posts for sustainability site, creation of company intranet, etc.
• Planning and execution of employee events, including sales conferences/meetings, professional development and employee wellness series
• Outreach to local community, including establishing relationships and securing discounts with local vendors

This person will be responsible for:
• Planning and execution of meetings and events for internal clients
• Vendor/venue sourcing for internal event clients, including (but not limited to) sourcing corporate hotels for group travel to conferences/conventions
• Handling the administrative needs of the department
• Other duties as needed/assigned

Required Skills / Knowledge:
• Positive, professional manner while interacting with colleagues and external vendors
• Extremely well organized and detail-oriented
• Ability to prioritize/problem solve
• Excellent written, verbal, and conversational skills
• Familiar with database management and maintenance


Experience Needed:
• 2-3 years of experience in events, Internal Communications or the marketing/publicity/sales functions of publishing

Educational Background Required:
• Bachelor’s degree required
