JOB SUMMARY:

Provide marketing leadership for HarperCollins Christian Publishing division, casting strategic vision, reporting & market analysis, staffing, planning, product positioning, packaging direction and overall marketing direction for both Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Bibles & Study Resources brands, as well as numerous Bible translation brands such as NIV, NKJV, KJV, The Voice, and AMP. Responsible for developing and executing a clearly defined marketing and communications strategy that supports maximum sell-through and HCCP's proprietary Bible brands awareness while enhancing brand equity and increased market share. Responsible for managing all marketing functions and budgets to achieve company objectives of sales, growth, profitability and visibility. In this leadership position, people management, coaching and development play a significant role.

ESSENTIAL, BIBLE GROUP LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Build market share in both units and dollars while maintaining profitability benchmarks
•Work closely with SVP & Publisher to assist in the development of growth strategies
•Responsible for all disciplines of marketing including both paid and earned media
•Champion & conduct consistent review of marketing initiatives derived from the multi-year growth strategy plan
•Lead Bible Marketing group enterprise including setting strategy and executing outstanding marketing plans that compel consumers to purchase HCCP Bible and Study Resources
•Develop creative thinking to foster innovative & effective marketing programs for translations and products
•Foster excellence, creativity and market-driven innovation within Bible Marketing (& editorial team by influence)
•Identify and nurture marketing partnerships that enhance brand and extend reach and revenue
•Responsible for coordination of the creative process and alignment with all mar-com and creative assets including consistent use of logo’s and taglines
•Work in partnership with SVP of Sales Operations to ensure fully integrated marketing and sales programs
•Work collaboratively with cross functional leaders such Director of Corporate Communications, SVP of Sales, SVP of Sales Operations, Children’s Bible Team, and SVP of eMedia
•Superior management of total marketing and expense budgets for Thomas Nelson and Zondervan
•Achieve or exceed revenue targets
•Lead the Bible Group Marketing Team and outsourced agencies and contractors
•Ensure efforts are aligned between marketing functions as well as between Marketing and Editorial to deliver strong go-to-market strategies for new product launches and backlist marketing/promotions
•Lead weekly team meetings, modeling timeliness, creativity and excellence in meeting market demands
•Assist with preparation for monthly business reviews-capturing insights, trends, accomplishments & challenges
•Develop & drive project management plans for cross departmental efforts (team building, training, scheduling)
•Foster an environment that encourages employees to thrive
•Manage Marketing team located in two offices (Grand Rapids and Nashville)
•Model successful leadership within department and to shared services departments and vendors
•Mentor direct reports: Career path coaching and tracking
•Provide direction and marketing oversight for all Bible Group publishing initiatives
•Provide industry and functional training for team members
•Develop and implement team building programs within Bible Group and key shared services contacts
•Leverage vendor relations and managing partners by influence to gain market traction

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Personal Characteristics): REQUIREMENTS
•10-12 years of marketing experience
•Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or Related Field
•Publishing and/or Christian Marketing and experience in people management skills and have successfully led a team
•Proficient with MSOffice and MAC applications, most notably Excel and PowerPoint
•Strong communication skills, team builder, detail oriented, multi-task oriented, results oriented, hands on leader
