Job Requirements Edgenuity seeks an ELA editor for our 6–12 assessment team. The Senior Assessment Editor is responsible for development of high quality assessment items that address concepts and skills covered in online lessons. Day to day, the Senior Editor manages item development projects for middle school and high school students, ensuring that all items are aligned to key state standards and Common Core State Standards. The Senior Assessment Editor should have content expertise in the subject area, understand best teaching practices, and be familiar with the latest trends and research in assessment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
-Build and implement assessment development schedules to meet product development deadlines.
-Create test development blueprint matrices based on state standards alignments and course objectives.
Collaborate with and provide training for content development vendors and freelancers in the creation of web-based assessments for grades 6–12.
-Write, review, and edit content for adherence to Edgenuity assessment guidelines and best practices in assessment writing.
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the development of assessment items for online courses and customizations.
-Work collaboratively with subject matter experts and editorial staff to deliver assessments on time and within budget.
-Track development of assessments through all phases of the editorial process.
-Maintain awareness of current trends and research in educational assessment.
Assure continuity of instruction and pedagogy in all assessments across the Edgenuity platform.
-Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies to support instruction and the potential impact on Edgenuity assessment model.

Desired Skills & Experience

-Bachelor's degree in related education field (Master's degree in subject area, education, or a related field preferred)
-Middle School or High-School teaching experience in English Language Arts area (at least 2 years)
-Editorial and/or curriculum development experience (4+ years); focus on English Language Arts assessment preferred
-Project management skills and experience managing assessment item development
-Knowledge of practice skills and strategies to teach and assess English Language Arts
-Understanding of the application of Bloom’s Taxonomy and Webb’s Depth of Knowledge to determine cognitive complexity of assessment items
-Strong organization skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
-Proficiency with the use of assessment development tools; experience using ExamView preferred
-Demonstrated proficiency using MS Office software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
-Familiarity with Common Core State Standards
-Excellent attention to detail while keeping in mind larger goals
-Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
-Willingness to provide critical feedback
-Creative thinking, flexibility, and resourcefulness
-Desire and ability to learn new technology and processes quickly
-Comfort with working in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced, and collaborative environment
