Job Requirements Description
InsideClimate News is looking for a director of business development to join our team and help bring our award-winning news operation to full scale. The ideal candidate will have 7-9 years experience, a demonstrated track record of success and be a self-starter with a passion for public interest journalism.

The director of business development will report directly to the publisher, who is responsible for fundraising, which is currently the source of almost 100% of ICN's budget. The director's job is to develop additional sources of revenue and work closely with the publisher to establish a more diversified, sustainable financial model for the organization. He/she will prioritize opportunities and pursue the most promising options.

This is a key position at an important time for a small, six-year-old organization that this year won the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting. The selection process for this exciting opportunity will be thorough, competitive and rigorous.

Qualifications
- 7-9 years experience in business development, marketing and sales including:
- Corporate sponsorships
- Reader/member campaigns
- Special events
- Paid Products
- Partnerships
- Licensing
- Track record of success with audience engagement and development
- Facility with testing, metrics and analysis
- Digital, social media and SEO expertise
- Superlative people skills and collaborative nature
- Understanding of accountability journalism and climate & energy issues a plus.
- Experience with non-profit or mission-driven organizations another plus.
