The columnist will be responsible for writing a weekly advice column for realtor.com, a top real estate web site attracting nearly 13 million consumers each month.
The new weekly column will be a key part of the realtor.com Advice blog, and will offer timely, helpful tips to home buyers and sellers.
This is a part-time position with a monthly stipend. The position sits within Marketing and will report to the Managing Editor. Telecommuting is allowed.
Duties and Responsibilities
The weekly column will cover a broad range of popular topics around the home buying and home selling process. We are considering a Q&A format, with consumers emailing their real estate questions and the columnist selecting one to give an in-depth answer each week.
The columnist should be an accomplished writer requiring minimal editorial direction and editing. We are looking for someone with an editorial voice that’s fresh, informative, engaging, accurate, and comprehensive.
He/she should have strong organizational skills, including planning column topics in advance and pitching them to editors. The columnist will be expected to post articles in his/her Facebook and Twitter accounts to help promote the content.
Education, Skills and Experience
• Professional writing experience – writing samples are required
• Real estate expertise, such as experience as a Realtor
• Strong organizational skills, including ability to maintain high-quality work while meeting deadlines
• Fluency in social media — Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.
• Experience with WordPress blogging platform is a plus
• Basic understanding of SEO for editorial content is a plus
