Blue State Digital, a strategic consulting firm specializing in online engagement, seeks a content strategist or web producer to help us develop and maintain engaging websites, platforms, and digital content for our clients.
Applicants should be comfortable with the building blocks of online engagement and user experience, including information architecture, content strategy, website design, video, SEO, analytics, online fundraising, email communications, and social media.
The ideal candidate has the brain of a reporter and the eyes of a designer. We're looking for a great writer and storyteller who also understands how to build a consistent, simultaneous narrative across digital channels, and also how to document strategies in a variety of editorial and visual formats. These formats may include sitemaps, wireframes, copy decks, user flows, PPT/Keynote presentations, blog pipelines, editorial memos, and strategic assessments.
This is a full-time position based in New York or Washington, D.C.
A typical assignment might involve:
Participating in a large kickoff meeting with a client.
Brainstorming with colleagues to set creative priorities and map out a strategic plan.
Evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of the client's existing website using standard formal techniques (content audit, gap analyses, competitive research, stakeholder interviews, etc.).
Developing fresh information structures, content hierarchies, editorial formats, and calls to action for the new site.
Creating wireframes that align with the client's goals and communicate the site's information framework to the client and to BSD's design and production departments.
Collaborating with other BSD departments, including visual design, SEO, analytics, email communications, and production, to ensure that the content plan is informed by their expertise.
Working closely with BSD's design and production departments to ensure successful implementation of the website.
Participating in regular meetings or calls with the client.
Creating assorted other deliverables as needed, including editorial memos, content matrices, user flows, best-practices docs, and experience briefs.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
5+ years of experience as a content strategist, web producer, or in similar role(s)
Required Skills
Express abstract concepts in concrete ways
Create attractive, polished documents
Communicate effectively (in writing and in conversation)
Work independently to solve complicated content challenges
Interact harmoniously with co-workers and clients
Juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced, demanding environment
