The Social Media Lead will manage the daily production of social media across all of NBCLA’s accounts and will work closely with the digital team and the Editorial Director of Digital Media on station initiatives and strategies. While managing social media is the primary function in this role, it also requires all-around digital skills as well as reporting, editing and writing breaking news.
Responsibilities will include:
• Work closely with newsroom staff and on
air talent to maintain and grow social media presence and engagement across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. Google+ and emerging social media platforms.
• Identify and creatively implement social media opportunities for news content
• Manage existing strategies and develop new ones to drive tune-in to on-air newscasts
• Act as an evangelist and a social media resource for newsroom staff
• Coordinate with news producers to cross-promote content on social
• Train newsroom staff on social media
• Assist in troubleshooting technical issues
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism or related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum 4 years experience working in online news in a medium to large-sized market
• Strong news judgment and news and headline writing skills required; strong proficiency in AP writing style
• Experience working with a Content Management System (CMS) or web-publishing software
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in graphics software and video editing
• Proficient in use of social media
• Must possess basic HTML knowledge

• Experience in Los Angeles market and familiarity with Southern California audience and communities
• Good collaborative and interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels
