The Writer/ Editor will write editorial content and develop strategy to establish a unique voice for each of our 5 growing websites. This position will be responsible for developing cross-platform content for the web, mobile, video, social, email and gaming. They will create and oversee the editorial process for consumer audiences, including working with staff, interns, and developing relationships with contributors. All our content is written or co-written by experts in our health verticals, so the ideal candidate will have experience working with authors, physicians, allied healthcare professionals and patient experts.
Responsibilities Include:
• Responsible for writing, editing and proofing copy for consumer online health websites
• Work closely with Digital Marketing Manager to drive social media/ traffic
• Work with CEO to develop editorial strategy, budget and roadmap
• Manage and build editorial staff and contributors
• Solicit health bloggers, ensure process is effective and bloggers are producing engaging content to our standards.
• Smooth site/ blog/ content/ value engine as a core of WEGO Health’s success – from design to editorial to success measurement, working closely with company leadership
• Follow best practices for SEO and social media
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• 5 to 10 years of journalism background with strong online/digital consumer content experience
• Roll up sleeves – write, edit, crop, post, tweet, flowchart, email and cajole
• Strong ability to manage multiple tasks/ and projects in a fast-paced environment
• Team player who works independently, cross-functionally and finds ways to uncover opportunities
• Must be strong communicator who can work with internal teams, external resources and passionate health activists
• Must know how to create content stream (Editorial Calendar, Condition Content, etc.), meet deadlines, and work with Art Director and Web
Skills Required: Apple Products, Microsoft Word, Adobe InCopy/ InDesign, Google Docs/ Drive, Microsoft Outlook
