Verso Books—the largest independent, radical publishing house in the English-speaking world—is looking for an experienced publicist to join our growing US team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for securing events, interviews, reviews and online coverage for around forty new books a year, working across a wide range of disciplines. Building good relationships with major, national media—broadcast, print and online—will be central to the job, in addition to working closely with the alternative press and political organizations. Creative use of social media and direct marketing tools will be crucial, including providing regular contributions to Verso's busy website.
A willingness to try new and innovative approaches to book publishing, marketing and publicity will be strongly encouraged. You will also need to be able to tailor and present the salient aspects of each new title to literary editors, potential writers, and events coordinators, and to efficiently manage tours and publicity campaigns for a number of titles at any one time. At least two years of experience, and a demonstrable familiarity with our list and publishing history, is preferred.
