Job Requirements Portfolio Media, Inc. is seeking a reporter to cover developments in the Los Angeles Superior Court, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals for our online daily business newswire. The Los Angeles court reporter will be responsible for retrieving new lawsuits, scanning complaints, keeping track of court events, communicating with editors about which events to attend, and filing 2-3 news stories per day on new lawsuits or court events. Candidate will be trained to cover legal topics, and no legal degree or experience is required. However, work experience as a reporter and strong reporting, writing, communication and analytical abilities are required to succeed in this job.

Requirements:
-Degree in Journalism
-2+ years of paid, full time reporting experience or relevant graduate degrees
-Demonstrated reporting, writing and organizational skills
-Must be able to start at least three weeks from acceptance date
-Valid driver's license

Preferences (one or more would be desirable):
-Graduate degree
-Experience in court reporting
-Experience in covering legal and regulatory affairs
-Experience in covering business news
-Experience in meeting daily deadlines
