Slate is seeking a web producer/copy editor to join either our New York or Washington, D.C., offices. Are you a hard-working, nimble, and quick-thinking editor with expertise in AP style and general grammar and usage rules? Are you independent and highly motivated but also work well within a team? Can you spot misspellings from a mile away? We want to hear from you! Experience at an online publication is preferred but not required. The job entails copy editing articles and blog posts and working extensively in our content management system to guide pieces from copy editing through production. It is a full-time staff position.
Responsibilities:
* Copy edit and publish articles and blog posts
* Occasional home page production
* Communicating with editors and fellow copy editors to ensure that work is completed in a timely fashion
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field
* Two years experience in online or print publishing
* An ability to multitask and prioritize different projects
* Working knowledge of AP style and general grammar
* Experience working on deadlines
