Every year Fortune names its best companies to work for and as for this year’s list released yesterday, media names were buried in there somewhere. We really had to dig but noticed Dreamworks Animation ranked twelfth and yeah, that’s pretty much it.
As for notable observations, Facebook and Apple did not make the list and yes, in case you’re wondering, Google also landed the top spot last year as well. This is the fourth time it made the list and as per the piece, that’s aside from its 100,000 hours (!) of subsidized massages to its employees last year. They apparently have three wellness centers and a sports complex boasting seven acres, roller hockey rink and bocce court included.
Lesser known top employers like CHG Healthcare, a medical staffing firm, made the list for a variety of reasons including two on-site health centers and giving extra paid time off to sales teams that meet their goals. Oh, let’s not forget about their competition in talent shows, trivia contests, and activities like Dress As Your Favorite President!
As for one of our favorites? The Boston Consulting Group actually has a “red zone report” to indicate when employees are working too many long weeks. In addition, new consultants to the company have the option to postpone their start date by six months and also receive $10,000 to volunteer at a nonprofit.
Without further ado, here are the top 10 employers:
1. Google, Inc.
3. CHG Healthcare
4. The Boston Consulting Group, Inc.
5. Wegmans Food Markets, Inc.
7. Hilcorp Energy Company
8. Edward Jones
9. Ultimate Software
10. Camden Property Trust
