Daphne Guinness Appearing in Barney’s Window to Promote McQueen Exhibit
Style icon and Guinness family heiress Daphne Guinness will make a live appearance in one of Barney’s windows today at 5 p.m. dressed in Alexander McQueen, a prelude to this year’s Costume Institute Gala (taking place tonight) and the Met’s exhibit of McQueen’s work, Savage Beauty, opening on Wednesday.
Following McQueen’s suicide last year (and the death of his good friend Isabella Blow), Guinness purchased Blow’s collection of fashion pieces, which included a number of McQueen articles.
The McQueen label also received some big-time publicity last week from the Royal Wedding. Kate Middleton‘s gown, which largely received rave reviews, was designed by McQueen’s Sarah Burton.
